Let's Make History

One Show at a Time!

We hope you recognize that every show is an investment. We expend your dollars and leverage others to bring you programming that improves your life in some small way. Each show's bills are different, so your pledge vouches for your particular tastes and makes it possible for us to continue to serve folks like you!

A fundraising interruption to any show is only as long as necessary. Therefore, we're able to cancel the fundraiser for each show as it meets its budget. We hope to get your help by mail, phone or on the web - behind the scenes - so no drive is necessary!

We hope that you'll pledge just to stand up for your own values in news and music. Buuuut - we'd really like to avoid a drive, so we're bribing you with the prospect of maybe being our winner of a new Bose Smart Speaker.

New Programming for Our 50th Year

Our first station was licensed July 14, 1972. This means we've recently started our 50th year of broadcasting! For most of that time we've been famous for bringing you the best radio shows from around the world.

You'll note we've restored programming we'd lost from the American Public Media network (APM) have some new favorites from the BBC. See our program grid for complete info!

Each program on our schedule has objective value and is beneficial for central Kansas. Some of the current options were prompted by changes at NPR as we explain here. We now present BBC World Service overnight until 6, and The World from Public Radio International both 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.! At 7 a.m. it's The Newsroom, then at 7:30, Business Daily and the Marketplace Morning Report. At 5 p.m. is Marketplace, right after Kansas News Service newscast material. This all makes more sense visually, so just check the grid online!

Get the Radio Kansas App!

You’ll notice that our website doesn’t have any pop-ups asking you to approve “cookies” or other tracking software. That’s not our style. We invite you to use all of our services – on air and online – for free and in private, and then trust on the honor system that you will take part as a contributor. This is one reason we don’t have an app that you have to install after accepting a bunch of terms and conditions. Our mobile "app" is simply the mobile-formatted web page at www.radiokansas.com/app It can’t track you or save or steal your information in any way. Rather than having to download updates, you’ll just find that the page is more capable as time goes on. These updates are delivered each time you refresh the page.

To “install” the app as a button on your device: On Apple Devices, visit the page in the built-in Safari Browser. Click the “Share” button at the bottom of the browser, then choose “Add To Home Screen.” Our streams and other information are now no more than two clicks away! On Android devices, visit with Chrome, then click the three dots in the upper right and choose “Add To Home Screen.” If you’ll go to that bit of trouble, we can save the $6000 we’ve been quoted to have someone build software for the app store. We’ll keep those dollars invested in the radio you use each day.
